Uniform & Appearance
APPEARANCE
We have a uniform expectation which shows the children are part of Castle Primary School. If you are in the team - wear the uniform! We believe children should have 'different' clothes for school and home -so they know they are 'ready to learn'. More details about our uniform are below.
In terms of appearance we please ask:
- longer hair is tied back
- No unnatural hair colours / dyes
- Only simple stud earrings are worn (and removed or covered for PE lessons) and no other jewellery (unless for religious reasons)
- No make-up (including acrylic or painted nails)
- No hoodies - even for outdoor PE
- No team football kits - plain t-shirts for PE please (this is different for clubs)
- If children have PE and a sports club on the same day they can either wear their PE kit for club or bring a different kit (but must have their PE kit for lessons)
UNIFORM
Please ensure all items are clearly named.
All uniform can be bought from clothing outlets or supermarkets.
Uniform items with our school logo (optional) is available to purchase from Harvem, Bath Hill, Keynsham (down the hill from the main street opposite the Memorial Park and the gym).
Harvem also stock our Castle book bags, jumpers, cardigans and PE t-shirts.

Red Jumper with or without school logo
Waterproof trousers, jacket and wellington boots
No PE kit is required

School Uniform
Plain navy blue sweatshirt (without a hood) with or without school logo
Plain white polo shirt, shirt or blouse
Plain grey or black trousers, skirts or fitted shorts (loose - not gym or cycling shorts, skin-tight shorts or sports shorts)
blue and white gingham dresses (optional in summer)
All black footwear (including logos, soles and laces) not ‘fashion’ or heeled footwear please.
Plain white, grey, black or navy socks/or tights
All children require a school bag (named) and YR -Y2 also a Book Bag
Flat, plain sandals can be worn in the summer (must have heel straps)
PE Kit (Years R to 6)
PE bag (named) to keep their kit on their peg
Every child is part of a 'Castle Team' and each team has a colour. Every child will be allocated to one of the following:
Team Caldicot (red)
Team Chepstow (yellow)
Team Farleigh (green)
Team Berkeley (blue)
Plain white or plain team coloured t-shirt (not branded or football shirts please). Logo'd plain coloured t-shirts are available from Harvem.
Plain black or navy shorts (all year round for indoor PE - gymnastics, dance etc): loose - not gym or cycling shorts, skin-tight shorts or logo'd shorts)
White socks
Trainers (not daps or plimsolls please)
Optional in Terms 2-4 for outdoor PE: Plain tracksuit OR plain sweat shirt and joggers (no hoodies please)
Extra equipment/kit that your child may need:
Football boots and shin pads may be needed for football, rugby or hockey after school clubs
Tape/plasters to be worn over earrings in PE or earrings removed
Swimming Lessons: One piece swimming costume/trunks (not Bermuda shorts), towel, swimming hat (longer hair) comb, plastic bag (for damp kit); Optional - goggles
