PE and Sport
At Castle Primary School we aim to deliver a high quality PE provision which provides opportunities for pupils to become physically confident and also supports their health and fitness. We believe that opportunities to compete in sport and other physical activities build character and help to embed our school values of determination and respect.
We follow the National Curriculum, KS2 children are taught to swim, and we play a range of team games and sports in our outdoor PE sessions.
Castle Primary staff have been trained in Real PE, a scheme which concentrates on developing the whole individual, in addition to just physical skills. Throughout the year the children will learn personal, cognitive, social and creative skills through games and practice of movements. This is designed to prepare children for later life by allowing them to develop perseverance and the confidence to try new activities - qualities which are necessary for becoming professional athletes!
Opportunities to compete in sport competitions are offered throughout the year for a range of year groups and take part across the B&NES School Sports Partnership as well as further afield.
